Brass Ensemble & Symphony Band of Sheridan College
Sunday, March 9th at 4pm in Kinnison Hall at the Whitney Center for the Arts.
Free.
The Sheridan College Symphony Band & Trombone Choir, under the direction of Dr. Eric Richards, present their first concert of the Spring 2025 semester: The Symphony Band’s program features an exciting set of classic and contemporary pieces for wind band from composers Carol Brittin Chambers, Caesar Giovanni, Charles Booker, and James Hosay.
We are especially looking forward to featuring our own Skyler Shields as clarinet soloist in Carl Maria von Weber’s beautiful Concertino. A clarinet student of Don Cherni, Skyler has established herself as an outstanding musical leader in the Sheridan High School Band and the Sheridan College Symphony Band and Jazz Ensemble. We know our community will enjoy her outstanding performance of this powerfully expressive and demanding work. The first half of the afternoon concert will feature the SC Trombone Choir performing a diverse program of sacred and secular music for brass, including music from the Renaissance, a chorale from Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, and concluding with a rousing arrangement of the Dixieland classic, Tiger Rag.
