Stephanie Koltiska is a Wyoming native who has danced her way from coast to coast. After receiving her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA she moved to San Francisco where she was a freelance modern dance performer. Most notably, performing with La Alternativa (formerly Motion Lab) for over five years and Robert Moses’ Kin, with whom she took a solo role in the world premiere of “Draft”. After a five-year run of touring and performing on the west coast, Stephanie moved to New York City where she completed her Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance and Pedagogy at SUNY Purchase. While living in New York, she was given the opportunity to perform world-renowned works by choreographers such as Lester Horton, Carmen de Lavallade, Regina Larkin, Lisa Race, Larry Keigwin, and Mark Morris Dance, to name a few. Stephanie joined the SUNY Purchase Dance Department as an adjunct faculty member for the remainder of her stay in NYC, as a modern dance instructor. During this time, she joined Riedel Dance Theater based out of NYC and enjoyed touring upstate New York with the company until her next big move to the Rockies in 2010. After moving to Denver, she became a full-time faculty member at Colorado Ballet and later took on the role as Dance Coordinator for the institution. She continued to dance professionally with multiple companies in the area as well as debuting some of her own work both at Colorado Ballet and beyond. Stephanie has taught dance nationally, from small studios to universities to professional companies alike. Sharing her passion for movement is something she takes great pride in, and in 2014 Stephanie returned to her hometown in pursuit of creating a dance program for Sheridan College. Over the past few years, she has developed and implemented curriculum that suits the specific needs of our small community and is proud to offer an associate degree in dance at the institution. Since being back in Wyoming she has worked on many local productions creating original choreography for more musicals than she can count. Some of those productions include Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, American Idiot and The Producers. Stephanie continues to dance professionally and in her off season tours with Oakland based modern dance company Blind Tiger Society.
