SHERIDAN, Wyo. — The Sheridan College Generals had a strong showing at the Chadron State College Rodeo in Chadron, Neb., on September 5-7, 2025, advancing to the short round in five events: barrel racing, goat tying, team roping, saddle bronc riding, and bareback riding.
The women’s team placed fifth overall with 100 points, led by strong performances in barrel racing. Faith Heim placed sixth in the long go, fourth in the short go, and sixth in the average. Teammates Allie Huskey and Brooke Billingsly also advanced to the short round, showcasing Sheridan’s depth in the event.
In goat tying, Josie Johnson posted a swift 7.7-second run in the long go, splitting ninth and 10th place to qualify for the short round.
On the men’s side, Sheridan finished second overall with 545 points. In saddle bronc riding, Chris Nelson won both the long go and the short go with scores of 81 and 82, respectively, capturing the title with 163 total points. Jake Schlattmann followed in second place with scores of 78 and 80, while teammates Lonnie Dunn and Tatien Eaton placed third and fourth to sweep the top four spots.
In bareback riding, Reece Reder placed second in the average after splitting the second round with an 81-point ride. Lucas Yellowhawk added valuable points with a seventh-place average finish.
Sheridan also excelled in team roping. The duo of Piper Bigney and Ryen Sheppick advanced from 10th to finish second in both the short round and the average. Teammates Tyon Arneson and Emmett Sortumn also reached the short round, qualifying in ninth place.
“This was a strong start to the fall season,” said the Sheridan College rodeo coach Bobby Harris. “Both our women’s and men’s teams showed determination and talent, and we’re excited to carry this momentum into Riverton and our home rodeo later this month.”
Sheridan College Generals will head to Riverton, Wyo., to compete at Central Wyoming College on Sept. 19–21, before returning to home soil in Sheridan, Wyo., for the Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo on Sept. 26–28. Fans are encouraged to mark their calendars and come out to support the Generals.
