Would you like to know more about a healthcare career, one where you can help clients maintain and improve wellbeing? Overall employment in healthcare occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2021 to 2031, much faster than the average for all occupations; this increase is expected to result in about 2 million new jobs over the decade. This online course is designed to expose students to various healthcare career options.
4 Weeks: 7/10 – 7/28

This beginning backpacking course is great for someone who is comfortable outdoors, but has never backpacked, or who has limited backpacking experience. Equipment is provided, so no need to bring your own. Safety, route planning, outdoor ethics, equipment, food and hydration will be covered in the class.
The class will culminate in a 2-3 backpacking trip in the Bighorn Mountains on 7/26/2024 – 7/28/2024. You will pack your own 30-40 pound backpack for several miles so you must be physically able to do this. The goal is that you will leave this class confident enough to plan and execute your own backpacking trip.

LPN IV Certification Course. This three-day course is designed to give LPN’s within our community advanced IV certification skills. It is also designed to assist current nursing students who have successfully completed the first year of nursing courses, to achieve an IV certification skill for future practice. Pre-requisite: An LPN with an active license OR a current student who has completed NURS 1100 and NURS 1200.

This course is designed to give students an opportunity to enhance their personal wellness through the participation in moderate to vigorous physical activity. This course is designed to complement and enhance biomechanics by focusing on balance, flexibility, and strength. The course will give an overview of different styles of Yoga, its history, and purpose. The postures (asanas), breath and correct body mechanics for each posture will be addressed, along with contraindications and modification for limitations.

An 8-week self-defense course focusing on instinctive, simple body movements and an aggressive mindset. The course teaches students how to use their entire body as a weapon to survive unexpected violent attacks. Just as importantly, the course teaches students how to avoid violence whenever possible.

If you want to save money on your next trip to the grocery store, then this class is for you! Learn how to take primal cuts of meats (loin, ribs, chuck, etc.) and cut them into chops and steaks that fits your family’s needs. Primal cuts will be purchased in bulk and students will cut them into various sizes and thicknesses of retail cuts, exploring what cut/size would be best all while putting money back into their pockets. This class will first meet on Friday, 8/30 in the lobby of the Mars Ag Center and then will meet at Western Heritage Meat Company for the remainder of the class. Books Movies to read see before you die. None of the movies clock over a hundred minutes, the movies in this series are slightly off, hard to find, and often overlooked. But they are all gems. These are not movies you can see at your local theater; most fell off the cultural radar years ago or never made it to the masses.
Not a superhero in the bunch. No Barbenheimer here, either. Most of these movies would fail the Bechdel test, miserably. Please query dougr@sheridan.edu for the list of titles. Coursework will include screenings, discussions, and online response posts.
