Overview

The Sheridan College Hospitality and Tourism Management AAS Program builds on basic skills developed in the certificate programs, preparing students for supervisory and management positions in hospitality and tourism industries. In addition to overseeing daily functions, hospitality/tourism managers are involved in purchasing, finance, human resources, event planning, marketing, and operations. Careers & Industry Outlook

Around 44,500 openings for food service managers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Employment of chefs and head cooks is projected to grow 8 percent from 2023 to 2033 with a median annual wage of $60,990 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Industry Projections

  • Demand is above average for the hospitality industry across the state and region. 441,400 openings for cooks are projected each year, and chefs and head cooks is projected to grow 8 percent from 2023 to 2033 with about 24,600 openings, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states a median annual wage for food service managers was $65,310 in May 2024.
