Overview
The Sheridan College Hospitality and Tourism Leadership Certificate prepares students for mid-level supervisor, management and leadership positions within the hospitality and tourism industry. Students will acquire the knowledge and practical skills for managing hospitality and travel-related enterprises related to events, conventions, and/or tour services. The certificate prepares individuals for assessing cost benefit analysis, developing industry operations and procedures, applying tourism marketing and promotion strategies, and utilizing industry legal practices. If you like working with people and want to be part of the fast-growing industry, the Hospitality and Tourism Leadership Program at Sheridan College will provide you with the training you need to jump start your career.
The certificate program may be completed in two semesters and prepares students for a second year of instruction, advancing in an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree.

Industry Projections
- Demand is above average for the hospitality industry across the state and region. 441,400 openings for cooks are projected each year, and chefs and head cooks is projected to grow 8 percent from 2023 to 2033 with about 24,600 openings, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states a median annual wage for food service managers was $65,310 in May 2024.
Around 44,500 openings for food service managers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Employment of chefs and head cooks is projected to grow 8 percent from 2023 to 2033 with a median annual wage of $60,990 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Certificate of Completion
The Hospitality & Tourism Leadership Certificate Program is designed to prepare students for immediate entry level placement in the field of hospitality. The coursework reflects real world techniques and ideas along with providing the students with tools and knowledge to be successful in the field. The basics of cooking are covered in addition to general management skills. This certificate transitions seamlessly into the Hospitality and Tourism Management AAS program.
