The Arts at Sheridan College presents an SC Chamber Music concert  on Sunday, April 7 at 4pm in Kinnison Hall at the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College.

This event is free and open to the public.

“The Sheridan College Music Department is excited to present this diverse program of chamber music with the community and showcase the incredible talents of our students,” Dr. Mark Elliot Bergman, director of strings and orchestral studies at Sheridan College, said.

The concert begins with repertoire composed for a viol consort. This group includes five local viol and mandolin musicians, including the group’s director Dr. Bergman. Their evening performance starts with “Ye Sacred Muses” by William Byrd. Also on the program is Antonio Vivaldi’s “Sonata in Bb Major, RV 46,” featuring Kathy Beagle as a Double Bass soloist.

The evening concert will continue with performances from the Flute Choir, directed by Sheridan College Flute Instructor Kristy Dooley’s group of 11 flute and piccolo musicians will begin their performance with “Ring of Flutes” and “Scarborough Fair Fantasy” by James-Michael Sellers. Their performance continues with “Coffeelation” by Greg Lutz, and concludes with Melvin Lauf’s “Millenium Celebration.”

A Piano Quartet, directed by Loretta Tonak, will follow. Carol Stewart and Loretta Tonak will play together on Piano 1 with Lynlee Peterson and Claire Gerber on Piano 2 to perform “Sicilienne” by J.S. Bach (arranged for two pianos by Mack Wilberg).

The Winds of the Bighorns, a Woodwind Quintet, will conclude the evening’s concert with three songs, including a duet with Katie Anderson and Kristy Dooley playing Jules Mouquet’s “La Flute De Pan.”
