Sheridan College rodeo teams shine at home Pat Hamilton Rodeo

SHERIDAN, Wyo. — The Sheridan College Generals had an impressive weekend at the Pat Hamilton Memorial Rodeo, held in Sheridan with ideal weather and strong community support. The women’s team is currently seated sixth in the region, while the men’s team holds second place.

The women’s team was led by barrel racer Allie Huskey, who won the long go and placed fourth in the average. In goat tying, RyLee Price finished sixth in the long go and ninth in the average. Breakaway ropers also put up strong performances, with Barett Wishnack, Taylor McGregor and Maci DeHaan splitting ninth in the long go. Sierra Hilgenkamp placed sixth in both the long go and the average, while Price also earned fourth in the long go, short go and average.

On the men’s side, Sheridan College riders dominated saddle bronc riding. Christopher Nelson won the long go, placed second in the short go, and split first in the average. He is currently seated second in the region. Teammate Jake Schlattmann split second in the long go, and placed third in the short go and average, while holding the top spot in the regional standings. Lonnie Dunn added an eighth-place finish in the long go.

In bareback riding, Lucas Yellowhawk placed second in the short go and fourth in the average. In calf roping, Wiley Dempenwolf split seventh in both the long go and the average. Sheridan’s team ropers also advanced, with RyLee Price and Trey Tetrault splitting ninth in the long go. The team of Tyon Arenson and Emmett Sortumn split ninth in the long go, placed fourth in the short round and average, and are currently splitting the lead in the region.

“We’re so proud of all the kids—not just for their competitive spirit, but for their hard work and dedication in helping run the rodeo. Their teamwork and energy were truly inspiring,” said head coach Bobby Harris. “Thanks again to everyone who came out and supported this special event. We’re already looking forward to the next one!”

The Generals will travel to Lamar, Colo., to compete at Lamar Community College Rodeo from Oct. 3–5.
