Pesticide Safety and Application

This course covers safe handling, use and disposal of chemicals. Students then apply this information to a study of herbicides, insecticides and fertilizers. Students become familiar with the selection and safe application methods of various chemicals. Particular attention will be given to environmental concerns. Students who complete the course will be eligible to take the Wyoming Private or Commercial Applicators examination. The successful completion of this exam qualifies them to purchase and use restricted use chemicals.

This course allows students to learn about local fishing options and waters available to the public, and options for how to fish them. We will travel to different fishing spots within an hour of Sheridan to learn about where to go and how to fish.

Sign up for a 4 day/3 night experience and catch all four species of cutthroat fish in Wyoming. Transportation and Hotels covered by the College. Food will be on your own. Equipment not provided. Wyoming Fishing License required. Two pre-trip meetings will be required and scheduled with attendees Supplies needed: fly fishing gear and all meal costs are the responsibility of the student (not covered by course fee).

This beginning backpacking course is great for someone who is comfortable outdoors but has never backpacked or who has limited backpacking experience. We have equipment to use so no need to have anything of your own. We will cover safety, route planning, outdoor ethics, equipment, food and hydration. The class will culminate in a 2-3 backpacking trip in the Bighorn Mountains. You will pack your own 30-40 pound backpack for several miles so must be physically able to do this. The goal is that you will leave this class confident enough to plan and execute your own backpacking trip.
