• Drug Screening: A test to check for the presence of illegal drugs or certain medications in a person’s system, commonly required for professional licensing or employment.

• Exam Fees (CRDTS, NBDHE, State License): Fees associated with various licensing and certification exams required for dental hygienists.

• Examplify: A software program used for secure online testing and exam-taking in educational settings. It ensures academic integrity during tests by preventing cheating or unauthorized access to materials.

• Fingerprinting: The process of taking a person’s fingerprints for background checks, often required as part of the licensing or certification process in healthcare or other professional fields.

• Immunizations: Vaccinations required to prevent the spread of diseases, often necessary to meet health and safety standards for healthcare workers or students in healthcare programs.

• LA Simulator: A simulation tool or software used for learning and practicing skills related to local anesthesia (LA) in the dental hygiene program.

• Lexicomp: A comprehensive drug reference software, often used in healthcare settings to provide information about medications, including dosages, side effects, interactions, and patient safety guidelines.

• Physical Exam: A medical examination by a healthcare provider to assess overall health, often required for employment, school enrollment, or licensure in certain fields.

• Radiology Badge: A badge or dosimeter worn by students or professionals in radiology to monitor radiation exposure during X-ray procedures.

• Turning Point Clicker License: Refers to a license for a response system (clicker) used in classrooms for interactive polling, quizzes, and student engagement during lectures.

The dental hygiene instrument kits contain a variety of specialized tools necessary for dental hygiene procedures, such as mirrors, probes, explorers, and scalers. These instruments are essential for both learning and practicing dental hygiene care. The kits are divided into a first-year kit and a second-year kit, each designed to assist students in developing and refining their skills throughout the program.

The department orders the instruments and sells them through the bookstore, allowing students to use their financial aid for the purchase. If a student does not have financial aid, they will still purchase the dental hygiene instruments through the bookstore.

Course fees cover the cost to purchase farrier hand tools for each student. Upon successful completion of the certificate, the student is able to keep the tools.

Currently, students are responsible for covering the costs of their background checks, CPR training materials and certification cards, ABMP memberships, textbooks, and insurance. Each of these components plays an integral role in the massage therapy education process, equipping students with the necessary credentials and resources to uphold the highest professional standards and ensure the delivery of quality care in their future practice.

At the completion of the Massage Therapy program at Sheridan College students may choose to take the MBLEx exam through the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. The current fee to take the MBLEx is $265 (not included in total to the left). Students are encouraged to take the exam to get board certified, even though the state of Wyoming doesn’t currently require it.
