Wyoming Works provides programs and resources for students to learn a skill and secure employment. The program makes available individual grants for students enrolling in approved programs at a Wyoming community college. It also provides a mechanism for colleges to apply for resources in support of the creation of high-demand programs.
The Wyoming Works grant can help you pay for training that leads to a in-demand job.
Steps to Apply to the Wyoming Works Grant
- Apply for Admission to Sheridan College to an eligible program of study
- Complete the FAFSA each year of enrollment
- Complete the Wyoming Works Application form
- Enroll in courses for your program by meeting with an advisor
- Check your student email and log-in to the HUB, then choose Self-Service to check for updates about your application
Eligibility Requirements
To be Eligible, you must:
- Apply for the grant before the start of your program of study, using the Wyoming Works Eligibility Form
- Submit a completed FAFSA application to Sheridan College AND have financial need as determined by the FAFSA
- Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who meets the definition of an eligible noncitizen under federal Title IV financial aid requirements,
- Be a Wyoming resident
- Must be registered with Selective Service, if required by Federal law
- Must be enrolled in an approved program of study
You will NOT be eligible if ANY of the following are true:
- You are currently receiving or eligible to receive the Hathaway scholarship
- You do NOT have financial need as determined by the FAFSA
- You owe a refund under a federal Title IV student financial aid program or a subsequently enacted similar federal student financial aid program, or a student financial aid program administered through the State of Wyoming
- You are currently in default on a Federal Title IV education loan
To maintain eligibility, you MUST:
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) in the program of study
- A student must maintain continuous enrollment in an eligible program
- A student may transfer from one approved program to another while maintaining continuous enrollment at NWCCD, or transfer to another Wyoming community college and immediately enroll in an approved program at the transfer institution.
The Sheridan College Financial Aid office will monitor your continuing eligibility, and inform you of any changes. You do NOT need to reapply annually for the Wyoming Works Grant if you are in an associate’s program.

Grant Funding Award Values:
Depending on your program of study and your specific financial need, you could receive up to:
- $840 per semester ($1,680 annually) for programs in the Wyoming Works-Standard Grant category, or
- $1,680 per semester ($3,360 annually) for programs in the Wyoming Works-Critical Grant category
Note: These values are increasing for programs starting after July 1, 2026, as follows:
- $1,180 per semester ($2,360 annually) for programs in the Wyoming Works-Standard Grant category, or
- $2,360 per semester ($4,720 annually) for programs in the Wyoming Works-Critical Grant category
Eligible students may receive the grant for up to six semesters. Individual program award amounts may vary, specifically for programs that are less than a semester in length.
The maximum award amount is based on remaining financial need after considering all other sources of financial assistance. The Financial Aid Office shall determine a student’s initial and continued grant eligibility.

The Sheridan College Foundation handles over 170 scholarships with a wide variety of qualifications, including but not limited to: art, construction, dental hygiene, nursing, machine tooling, veterans and more.
The Hathaway Scholarship assists recent Wyoming high school graduates help pay for college. There are four levels offered based on your high school GPA.
Wyoming’s Tomorrow Scholarship is a state-funded scholarship program for adults enrolling at a Wyoming College or University to pursue a degree or certificate.
