Welcome to Sheridan College

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. We hope you choose to pursue your studies in the United States at Sheridan College. The college offers an official pathway to obtain an F-1 student visa and has a clear multi-step enrollment process, including application, English proficiency verification, financial documentation, obtaining the I-20 form, visa/embassy interview, and orientation.

Academic support is robust: tutoring, writing and math labs, counseling and disability services are available. Students also benefit from being in a scenic region at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains, access to on-campus living, and services to help with settling in, checking in with school officials, and managing visa paperwork.

Important International Student Information

  • Submit all documents and apply by July 15 for Fall Semester.
  • Submit all documents and apply by December 1 for Spring Semester.
  • NWCCD TOEFL code is 4393.

Steps to Enrollment for International Students

Apply

Create your online Admissions Profile and submit your degree seeking admission application.

Submit Required Documents

While specific requirements may vary, most of our incoming international students are required to submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:

  • Proof of English proficiency where English is not the primary language of the resident country may be determined in the following manner: TOEFL score of 61 (iBT), or 500 (paper based), or IELTS 5.5, or Duolingo 95, or a combination of a minimum ACT 18 or SAT 510 scores, high school and/or college transcripts review, and professional judgement may be considered under the leadership of the PDSO/DSO and the AVP of Student Affairs.
  • Receipt of official secondary and post-secondary transcripts translated submitted through SpanTran Pathways. Transcripts from English-speaking countries may require evaluation, if requested by the Records Office.
  • Completed NWCCD Confidential Financial Statement (CFS) with a signed official bank statement within the last four months.
    CFS must demonstrate adequate funds to cover living expenses, as determined by the Admissions Office.
  • Proof of US medical insurance coverage with effective date prior to arrival on campus.
  • Current passport, valid at least six (6) months beyond program start date.
  • Agreement to comply with the following requirements after arrival:Register in Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) with the assistance of the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) or Designated School Official (DSO).Check in with the PDSO/DSO at the start of each semester during enrollment and prior to departing the country at any time.

Receive I-20

Upon acceptance to the college you will be emailed a “draft” I-20 for your review.  Upon your confirmation of the “draft” I-20, your official I-20 will be sent to you via Fed-EX to the address listed on your application for admission.

Pay SEVIS Fee

Before coming to the United States, all of your paperwork must be in order.

  • Online completion of the SEVIS Form I-901 provides a brief explanation of the fee requirement and procedure to pay online. For more detailed information on the fee payment process, go to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and review the Frequently Asked Questions.
  • Transferring International Students (with a current I-20 from another school in the U.S.) will not be charged another fee, if transfer is approved from both the current and new school.

Complete Embassy Interview to Obtain F1 Visa

Embassy appointments for F1 student visas may require a six month waiting period. Please plan accordingly. Please contact your closest U.S. Embassy to schedule an appointment.

Upon Arrival Check-in with PDSO

International students are required to arrive on campus seven days prior to the start of classes. Your arrival date will be communicated in your acceptance letter. Before beginning classes, international students will meet with their Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) to check in. This process is designed to help international students acclimate to the community college experience. International students will also meet with an academic advisor to walk them through the enrollment process. This appointment will be set up through their meeting with their PDSO.

Attend/Complete Orientation

Prior to starting classes, new students are required to attend an orientation. The date and type of your orientation will be determined at your meeting with your advisor.  New Student Orientation is mandatory. Some of the topics to be covered for you are:

  • Student Rights & Responsibilities
  • Campus Life
  • Academic Advising Information
  • Review of International Student Handbook
  • International Student Club

New students completing one or more online courses are expected to complete an online learning orientation as well.

Activate Your HUB Account

After you submit your online application for admission, you will be emailed instructions for setting up your HUB account.
However, you will need to activate your HUB account upon arrival at campus.

Your HUB account is used for all college communications, class discussions, and more. In addition, it is where you can register for future classes.

Purchase Books and Attend Class!

Books may be purchased from bookstores located on each campus or online. Shop for books and supplies using course name and section number.

Once you have your books, you are all set to begin your classes.

    The Whitney Center for the Arts includes cutting edge studios for performing, recording, sculpture, ceramics, painting, and drawing. Additionally, the performance hall and galleries serve up a variety of professional concerts and art exhibitions for students and the community of Sheridan.

    Dive into your personal interests! These classes deliver unique experiences that will feed your curiosity in a wide variety of areas including art, music, outdoor activities, and cultural topics.

    The WYO Performing Arts and Education Center houses two theaters as well as a dance studio. The main WYO Theater seats 483, and the proscenium stage is complete with a full fly system, newly added wing space on either side of the stage, newly updated sound technologies and full lighting capabilities. Theater & Dance students primarily work out of the WYO Performing Arts Center.
