Careers & Industry Outlook
Nearly every building has electricity. Electricians are needed to install and replace these power systems. Alternative power generation, such as solar and wind, is a growing field that should require more electricians for installation. Electricians will continue to be needed to link these alternative systems to homes and power grids over the projections decade.

- Demand is high for Electricians across the state and region. Employment of electricians is projected to grow 11 percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations., according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also states the median annual wage for electricians was $62,350 in May 2024.

Curriculum & Offerings
Certificate of Completion
The Electrical Apprenticeship Certificate Program fulfills the State of Wyoming and Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Apprenticeship educational requirements for registered apprentice electricians. The program is intended for apprentice electricians who have been registered with the State of Wyoming by their employer. The coursework emphasizes the National Electrical Code (NEC) and prepares apprentice electricians to pass the Journeyman Electrician licensing exam at the conclusion of their four-year apprenticeship. A series of 8, 3-credit courses will deliver 576 hours of educational training required over the working apprenticeship. The program is designed to be completed during a four year (8,000 hour) working apprenticeship.

- Demonstrate a commitment for the apprenticeship process and adhere to the responsibilities of an Electrical Apprentice
- Interpret electrical drawings and diagrams
- Demonstrate AC and DC motor drive principles
- Demonstrate the use and application of basic tools of the electrical trade
- Perform electrical troubleshooting with applicable tools and instruments
- Explain the use of basic materials used in the electrical trade
- Apply basic theory of electricity to work application

Innovation Center
Sheridan College’s most recent building renovation and expansion, the Sheridan College Innovation Center, was finished in the fall of 2024. The space will support students and community members who are pursuing career opportunities in manufacturing or construction trades and also includes the new Manufacturing Incubator.

Technical Center
The Sheridan College Technical Center serves Welding, Construction, Diesel and Machine Tool Technology students.
