Overview

Construction is vital to the success of our communities. Homes, schools, office buildings, community centers, and more are built, renovated, and remodeled every day across the United States. Construction workers are highly trained to tackle the industry’s challenges such as construction management and sustainable building planning. Our Construction Technology Degree, offered as an Associate of Applied Science and Certificate of Completion, prepares you for real-world jobs in the construction field.

Construction technology professionals build, repair, and renovate buildings and structures, as well as plan and manage construction activity. Our program includes classes held at construction sites, giving you real-world experience. Industry Projections

  • Laborers and workers in all fields of construction are in high demand. Employment in construction and extraction occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. About 663,500 openings are projected according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also states the demand for construction managers will increase as well. More than 45,800 new jobs will be added from 2023-2033, which is a 9 percent increase.

Curriculum & Outcomes

The Construction Technology Certificate Program emphasizes the hands-on facets of the industry as well as drafting and management skills. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in occupations related to the design and construction of buildings. Students develop skills and technical knowledge that apply to field work and construction management practices; with these skills students are prepared for entry-level employment or may continue in the AAS program for job advancement within the industry.

The Construction Technology Program partners with the Big Horn Home Builders Association and Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns in order to provide hands-on learning opportunities for you. As a Career & Technical Education student, you will learn in the leading facilities in the region, the Technical Center and the Innovation Center at Sheridan College.

    Innovation Center

    Sheridan College’s most recent building renovation and expansion, the Innovation Center, was finished in the fall of 2024. The space will support students and community members who are pursuing career opportunities in manufacturing or construction trades and also includes the new Manufacturing Incubator.
