Construction workers are highly trained to tackle the industry’s challenges such as construction management and sustainable building planning. Our Construction Technology Degree, offered as an Associate of Applied Science and Certificate of Completion, prepares you for real-world jobs in the construction field.

Construction technology professionals build, repair, and renovate buildings and structures, as well as plan and manage construction activity. Our program includes classes held at construction sites, giving you real-world experience. Industry Projections
- Laborers and workers in all fields of construction are in high demand. Employment in construction and extraction occupations is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. About 663,500 openings are projected according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also states the demand for construction managers will increase as well. More than 45,800 new jobs will be added from 2023-2033, which is a 9 percent increase.

World-Class Facilities
As a construction technology student, you will have courses in the Innovation Center, the Technical Center at Sheridan College, and out in the field working on actual housing projects.
Finished in the fall of 2024, the Innovation Center directly supports our Construction Tech program allowing students to practice skills and even build an entire house inside while not being impacted by winter weather.
Construction Technology Lab at the Innovation Center includes:
- 12,000 sqft lab for constructing homes inside a controlled environment
- Large hanger door 36’ wide x 27’ tall, to move houses out when complete
- Updated high-end hand and power tools for student use
- 10 ton Bridge crane
- 1200-gallon air recovery tank and luxury air compressor system
- Several heavy-duty moving systems to move the houses out of the lab and around the lab
- Two telehandlers forklift student use and training
- One regular forklift for material handling and student training
- One JLG manlift for use by student in the building process
- C 185 Skid Tracked loader for jobsite use and training
- L 190 Bobcat mini loader for jobsite use and training
- Large capacity student lockers for each student’s tools
- Innovative safety and lifting equipment.
- Dedicated tool trailer with an excellent selection of hand and power tools for students to use while out in the field on jobsites


The Sheridan College Technical Center houses the Construction Technology Finish Lab which includes:
- Large woodworking lab space
- 6 large work benches
- Professional woodworking equipment
- Vast selection of high-quality hand and power tools for student use
- Excellent dust collection system which maintains a clean air environment
- Professional cabinet tools.


For years the Construction Technology program has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns to help construct homes around Sheridan County. These projects present valuable hands-on experiential learning opportunities for our students in a real-world work environment.


Curriculum
Associate of Applied Science Degree or Certificate of Completion
Sheridan College offers both an Associate of Applied Science Degree and a Certificate of Completion. The certificate emphasizes the hands-on facets of carpentry, as well as the fundamentals of the trade. The Associate of Applied Science Degree continues to build on the hands-on residential building skills, along with developing finishing skills; this, together with some business and management training, provides students with a path forward to management. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in occupations related to the design and construction of buildings.
