Sheridan College in Johnson County (SCJC) offers a variety of community interest classes, as well as courses that can be applied toward earning a degree or certificate. Complete your High School Equivalency Certificate, take college courses and finish prerequisites, become a CNA or EMT, or just take a class for fun.

SCJC operates from the Bomber Mountain Civic Center in downtown Buffalo. It has various classroom spaces as well as two gymnasiums.

Perspective, Color Theory, and Design

8 Weeks, 1/21/26 – 3/4/26
Wednesdays, 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Instructor: Jenny Wueker
Cost: $127 (WY resident), $20 Fee

This class focuses on basic elements of drawing and design to give students a well-rounded understanding of visual skills. Students will learn the principles behind perspective, observational drawing, and essential principles of design such as color theory, composition, balance, and harmony. We will work primarily in pencil, and also use watercolor when studying color theory and design. This is an introductory/intermediate level course taught with encouragement through fun exercises, targeted projects, and examples from art history.

Beginning Yoga

8 Weeks, 1/22/26 – 3/9/26

This course is designed to stretch your body and mind with an all-levels yoga flow. You will leave feeling rejuvenated and ready to conquer your day. Students will learn dynamic new flows and poses while building strength, improving balance, and gaining flexibility.

Sheep Shearing Kaycee

Weekend: 2/07/26 – 2/8/26

AGRI 1950-80 (1 credit)
Instructor: Braden Anderson
Cost: $127 (WY resident), $40 lab fee

Learn the basic techniques for safely and effectively shearing a sheep in a physically demanding field. We will discuss the importance of shearing for the health of the sheep, go over the necessary equipment, and how to maintain shearing tools. Additionally, we will explore the global wool and shearing industry.

Fly Fishing

8 Weeks, 3/11/26 – 5/6/26
Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.

Instructor: Robert Buhr
Cost: $127 (WY resident), $20 lab fee

This introductory course is designed for students regarding the fundamentals of fly fishing. Participants will get an overview on topics including gear selection, basic entomology, fly selection, proper knots, casting, and much more. If you have ever thought of trying this amazing sport, this class will shorten the learning curve and help you to have success on the water.

Fly Rod Building

8 Weeks, 3/12/26 – 5/7/26

Cost: $127 (WY resident), $75 lab fee

Students will learn how to assess rod quality and performance as they learn to assemble and make their own fly-fishing rod.

Digital Photography

8 Weeks, 3/24/26 – 5/5/26

PHTO 1950-50 (1 credit)
Instructor: Lanna Wing
Cost: $127 (WY resident)

This course is designed to give students basic digital photography knowledge and skills. Come learn from one of Buffalo’s established photographers, Lanna Wing. She will give you all the inside tips and tricks to taking that perfect picture!

Drone Licensing

8 Weeks, 3/24/26 – 5/5/26

6:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m.

ENTK 1950-50 (1 credit)
Instructor: Richard Sanchez
Cost: $127 (WY resident)

This course will provide students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to obtain a Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on flight training, students will learn about FAA regulations and aircraft operations. Upon completion, students will have the information necessary to pass the FAAs Part 107 test to fly drones commercially.

Horse Packing

Weekend: 4/18/26 – 4/19/26
Sat & Sun,

OEAC 1950-52 (1 credit)
Instructor: Adam Todd
Cost: $127 (WY resident)

Students will learn about different pack animals, equipment, saddling adjusting, wieght distribution, horse side manner, different hitch forms, and computing speed and accuracy for a safe and effective pack trip.

The Advisory Board at SCJC awards scholarships each year to dedicated students from Johnson County.

Veteran Scholarship

If you are a Veteran, living in Johnson County, you may qualify for the Marna M. Kuehne Endowed Scholarship for Johnson County.

TRIO Program

The TRIO program at Sheridan College is a service provided to qualifying students that allows them to complete their degrees and transfer to four-year institutions. TRIO takes a holistic approach to helping students achieve long-term academic goals by focusing on four core areas: academic, financial, career, and personal/social.
