SC Rodeo Teams continue strong season in CO
SHERIDAN, Wyo. — Sheridan College’s Rodeo Teams competed at the Colorado State University Rodeo on April 3-5, adding another strong showing to the season. The Sheridan College Men’s Team placed second, holding steady at second in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standing behind the University of Wyoming. The Women’s Team placed fourth overall, holding steady at fourth place in the region.
For the Men’s Team, Sheridan Saddle Bronc rider Christopher Nelson tied for fifth with teammate Lonnie Dunn in the long go with a 71-point score and added a first-place finish with 85-point score in the short go, placing him at number one in the average with 156 points. Brody Hale topped the long go with 84 points and added 67 points in the short go to come in third in the average with 151 points. Dunn added 70 points in the short go, taking eighth place in the average with 141 points. Jack Chase earned a 62-point long go, and added 68 in the short go, landing just behind Dunn in ninth place in the average.
In Tie-Down Roping, Tyon Arneson took third in the long go with a time of 10.6 seconds and added another third-place finish in the short go with a time of 10.2 seconds, placing third overall.
On the Women’s Team, Blaise Lange tied with teammate Ryen Sheppick for fourth in Barrels with a 16.05-second run in the long go, followed by fifth-place 16-second run in the short go for a combined 32.05 average, tying for third place. Sheppick finished her second run with a time of 16.31 for a sixth place finish in the short go and overall.
Josie Johnson landed in fifth place in Goat Tying with an average of 18.0 seconds, earned with a 9.0-second tie for seventh place tie in the long go and a 9.0-second tie for fourth in the short go.
In Breakaway Roping, Sierra McGregor won the event with 5.4 in average after a 2.8-second run in the long go, placing her fourth, and 2.6-second tie in the short go placing her first. Teammate Cole Deblin landed fourth in the long go with a 2.8-second run, but did not score in the short go, landing eleventh in the average.
“Our team is doing a great job right now,” said Coach Bobby Harris. “They’re putting in the work every day, making adjustments each time they step into the arena, and that’s what we’re proud of; just continuing to improve and outwork the competition.”
The Sheridan College Rodeo Teams compete next April 17-19 at Casper College in Casper, Wyo.
