Abstract: The intersection of technology and healthcare is advancing at an incredible pace. In this lecture, Dr. Sam Hoffmann will explore the tools and innovations shaping today’s optometric practice—highlighting the most fascinating yet practical developments that impact everyday patient care. Topics will include modern contact lens technology, laser applications in eyecare, optical coherence tomography, telemedicine, deep learning, cataract surgery, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in the future of vision care.

If you’re a naturally curious person, you’ll find this talk both eye-opening and inspiring!ield observations and experiments.

Biosketch: Dr. Sam Hoffmann has practiced primary care optometry in Sheridan since 2004. A Wyoming native, he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wyoming and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from UC Berkeley—graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA from both institutions.

Dr. Hoffmann has lectured for the Wyoming and South Dakota Optometric Associations and has spoken to numerous college, high school, and junior high classes, sharing his passion for the science and wonder of vision. Known for his clear and engaging teaching style, he loves helping patients understand their eye conditions and is excited to present this look at the most intriguing sides of modern eyecare.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Hoffmann plays piano at First Baptist Church, is married to Robin, an RN, and together they have four daughters.
