Sheridan College rodeo teams deliver strong results at Antelope Stampede

SHERIDAN, Wyo. — The Sheridan College rodeo teams continued their successful fall season at the Antelope Stampede in Lamar, Colo., where 13 Generals advanced to the short round and delivered standout performances across multiple events. The men’s team currently sits second in the region, while the women’s team is seated sixth.

The women’s team was led by goat tier Taylor Price, who returned to the short round after splitting fifth and sixth in the long go. She went on to place fifth in both the short round and the average.

In barrel racing, Maci DeHaan placed sixth in the long go, second in the short go and split third in the average. Brooke Billingsly, who jump rode DeHaan’s breakaway horse for the weekend, finished seventh in the long go, third in the short go and sixth in the average. Teammate Ryen Sheppick also had a consistent showing, earning 10th in the long go, eighth in the short go and eighth in the average.

On the men’s side, Sheridan College’s rough stock riders once again dominated the leaderboard. In saddle bronc riding, Christopher Nelson placed third in the long go, second in the short go and second in the average. He is currently leading the region in a close race with teammate Jake Schlattmann, who split first in the long go, placed sixth in the short go and finished third in the average, just 10 points behind Nelson in the regional standings. Teammate Taiten Eaton also had a strong showing, finishing ninth in the long go, fourth in the short go and splitting fifth in the average.

In bareback riding, Lucas Yellowhawk won the long go, while Reece Reder earned fifth in the long go, fifth in the short go and split fourth in the average.

Steer wrestler Trey Tetrault placed 10th in the long go, and team ropers Tyon Arneson and Emmett Sortum advanced to the short round after earning 10th in the long go before drawing a tough steer in the finals.

“Our student-athletes continue to show tremendous grit and consistency with every rodeo,” said head coach Bobby Harris. “This week we plan to keep pushing and work to finish strong for the fall season.” The Generals will wrap up their fall schedule at the Laramie County Community College Rodeo in Cheyenne, Wyo., from Oct. 10–12.
