Curriculum & Outcomes

Associate of Applied Science

The Cyber Security AAS Program prepares students for a career in computer network and Internet security. The program assists students to develop information security strategies, perform risk analysis, install security software, monitor network traffic and develop an emergency response plan. The program provides the foundational technology skills needed to support operating systems and computer technology and additionally teaches students to secure Microsoft Windows, Linux, Cisco infrastructure, servers, and clients, and the enterprise network.

Program Outcomes

  • Demonstrate set-up and basic maintenance of operating systems used by clients and servers such as Microsoft Windows and Linux distributions to include basic security risk remediation methods.
  • Configure network infrastructure devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls to include security risk remediation configurations.
  • Explain security risks and remediation solutions associated within cloud computing and virtualized technology.
  • Apply computer forensic methods used in the event of a security breach.
  • Describe required security program elements needed for an effective organizational security culture.
  • Apply troubleshooting and ethical hacking methodology to identify and resolve technology problems and security vulnerabilities in hardware and software systems.
  • Create scripting for use in an enterprise-networked environment.

Though this is an online program, we do work with industry partners in our communities to support internships when available.
