Overview

The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Foundations Certificate Program is designed to prepare students for immediate entry-level placement in the field of Culinary Arts and Hospitality. The coursework reflects real-world techniques and ideas, while providing the students with tools and knowledge to be successful in the field. The basics of cooking are covered in addition to general management skills.

This program transitions seamlessly into the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program (Associate of Applied Science). There is concurrent student opportunity within this program.


Careers & Industry Outlook

Around 44,500 openings for food service managers are projected each year, on average, over the decade. Employment of chefs and head cooks is projected to grow 8 percent from 2023 to 2033 with a median annual wage of $60,990 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

  • Demand is above average for culinary arts & the hospitality industry across the state and region. 441,400 openings for cooks are projected each year, and chefs and head cooks is projected to grow 8 percent from 2023 to 2033 with about 24,600 openings, according to the U.S. Dcepartment of Labor.
  • The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states a median annual wage for food service managers was $65,310 in May 2024.
