Joanel has been practicing nursing for over 35 years. She has an extensive background in hospice and palliative care, medical-surgical, and critical care nursing, hospice administration, quality improvement program development and staff education. She received her associate degree in nursing from Clark State College, bachelor’s degree in nursing from Franklin University, and her master’s degree in nursing – informatics from Walden University.
Joanel has been a full-time nursing instructor since 2015. She enjoys teaching and providing the students with the tools needed to critically think. Most importantly teaching them the “art of caring”.
Joyce J. Fitzpatrick states, “Florence Nightingale is the inspiration for countless nurses to continue to ask deeper questions that open scientific doors and more importantly, instill the spirit of clinical inquiry and the desire to improve the lives of others through nursing care. “ (Nightingale, 1992, p.21-22).
