The Medical Assistant Certificate program is designed to be completed in one year. Students will study college math, English, anatomy and physiology, as well as courses geared specifically toward medical assistants. In the first semester, the practicum will focus on front-office work, such as gathering patient information to bill insurance, preauthorization, and intake. The following semester, students will learn about “back office” processes like phlebotomy, giving injections, and assisting in minor surgeries. The course’s final exam will be the national certification exam.
