RE: 32nd ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SURFACE MINE RESCUE COMPETITION

The Powder River Basin Safety Association and the Holmes Powder River Basin Safety Council in conjunction with Joy Global invite you to participate in the 32nd Annual International Surface Mine Rescue Competition to be held in Gillette, Wyoming. This year’s event will be held on Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11. We will also be sponsoring a training day on Thursday, August 9. The topics for the training sessions will include CME’s and other certifications. Class schedules will be released at a later date. Please ensure all team members bring their EMT/BEC/EMR recertification books/papers to this training for signatures. Also ensure every team member has a MSHA MIIN as well.

This year we you will need to report to the Gillette College Technical Education Center located across the creek and north of the main campus building. The address of the Gillette College-Tech Center is: 3251 S. 4J Road. This is where you will report on Thursday by 8:00 a.m. The location of the main Saturday problem will be announced at the Captains’ meeting on Friday! Saturday lock-up will be held at the Fire Training Center. Lock-up opens at 4:00 am. Doors locked at 5:00am.

The location of the Captains’ meeting on Thursday will be at the Gillette College-Tech Center at the conclusion of classes. Fridays Captains’ meeting will be announced at the Thursday Captains’ meeting. The Awards banquet will be held on Saturday evening at the Boss Lodge Restaurant & Business Center located at 910 N. Gurley Avenue in Gillette.

A registration form and the rules for the competition are enclosed for your use. The competition will be limited to the first twelve teams that send a completed registration form on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note: fees alone will NOT reserve a spot. The order in which the registrations and fees are received will determine the order that the teams will compete on Friday. Please note: Only 1 team from each MINE SITE will be permitted to register.

On the registration form: Ensure that the person responsible for training the Mine Rescue Competition team is registered as “Head Trainer.” Teams will be held accountable for this team slot.

Here you will be able to pay your registration fee as well as pre-pay for your tee shirts, banquet tickets and extra belt buckles. Don’t forget to get your roster to us asap as that contains the numbers and sizes for the tee shirts.
