ELIGIBILITY
You must be officially withdrawn from school and at least 18 years old. Under certain circumstances, 16 & 17 year old students may apply for waivers from the Wyoming GED office. See the instructor for age waiver information.
PRE-TEST (about 3 hours)
Step 1: This required FREE test shows strengths and weaknesses in reading, math, language, and writing. Results are used to see entering levels and to determine what instruction is needed. The pretest can be done during daytime or evening class hours. No appointment is needed. See course schedule.
STUDYING FOR THE GED
Step 2: Study at your own pace with our instructors. Textbooks and computer lessons are available for use in the GED classroom. A minimum of 12 hours of on-site instructional time (including pretesting and practice testing) is required.
OFFICIAL GED PRACTICE TESTS
Step 3: Take Official Practice Tests in each of the five areas. A minimum score of 450 with a minimum average of 500 is required before GED test referral.
TAKING THE GED TEST
Step 4: Instructors refer students ready to test to the GED Examiner. All five sections can be completed on the Wednesday & Thursday test dates. Students can also take separate sections as they complete their studies in that area if their Official GED Practice Test scores are 500 or above.
FEES & PRE-REGISTRATION
The test is offered year-round, once a month. A fee of $60 is charged for the GED test and is collected before you begin to test.
