CLEP examinations cover material taught in courses that most students take as requirements in the first two years of college. A college usually grants the same amount of credit to students earning satisfactory scores on the CLEP examination as it grants to students successfully completing the course.

Each exam is 90 minutes long, and is made up primarily of multiple-choice questions. Some exams do have fill-ins. College Composition requires an essay in addition to the multiple-choice questions.  Most CLEP exams cost $77 payable to CLEP on-line at the time of your test or by personal check or money order.  There is an additional $10 fee for the essay portion of the College Composition.  Sheridan College charges a $10 test administration fee..

· CLEP tests are computer based tests, conducted in our Testing Center.

· CLEP tests DO NOT substitute for credit hours required for Financial Aid or Scholarship requirements.

· CLEP Exam credits appear on your transcript only.

What should I bring on exam day? Please bring two forms of identification to the test center. Your primary ID must include your photo and signature; e.g. a driver’s license or passport. Your secondary ID must have a signature and/or photo; e.g. a social security card or student ID card. Note: Student/college ID cards are acceptable only as a secondary form of ID.

You must know your Social Security # to register on the CLEP site. Cell phones, calculators, PDAs of any kind, beepers, alarm watches, books, papers, and food are not allowed in the testing room. A calculator is provided if your exam requires you to use one. Each exam lasts approximately 90 minutes. Please plan accordingly. Candidates with disabilities who require accommodations must make arrangements well in advance of the test date.
