PERSONAL TRAINER EDUCATION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Personal training is a growing field and NWCCD provides a fund and dynamic educational experience. This program is designed to assist students in developing the necessary skills and abilities to become leaders in the health and fitness industry. Throughout the course of study, students will learn to apply their knowledge and skills in a variety of real-world settings including clinics, fitness centers, and hospitals. Students who complete this certificate will be eligible to sit for national exams offered by certifying agencies such as National Council on Strength and Fitness, American Council on Exercise, American College of Sports Medicine, and National Strength and Conditioning Association. This is an ideal option for anyone interested in working with apparently healthy individuals in a one-on-one setting.
Sheridan College’s Fitness Center provides a perfect setting for students to practice their training skills. With a variety of machine, free weights, and balance equipment, students will development an array of training methodologies.
Members of the faculty include certified personal trainers, group fitness instructors, and healthy lifestyle coaches – all with varied experiences and backgrounds. The enthusiastic attitude of the instructors is easily translated to the students providing them with a fun and energetic learning environment.
