Spear-O-Wigwam Mountain Campus debuts summer course schedule

SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Fly fishing, horse pack trips and rock climbing are just a few of the courses available at Sheridan College’s Spear-O-Wigwam Mountain Campus this summer, the college announced recently.

“We are excited to once again welcome community members to the beautiful setting at the mountain campus this summer,” said Julie Davidson, Sheridan College’s Director of Recreation and Outdoor Education. “Each year, Spear-O-Wigwam has continued to grow, enhancing the educational experience of students while providing an extraordinary outdoor atmosphere. It’s a special place.”

Registration is now open. Signing up for a class can be done online, at www.sheridan.edu, calling (307) 674-6446, ext. 2200, or visiting Sheridan College at 3059 Coffeen Avenue.

Spear-O-Wigwam is about an hour drive from Sheridan College into the Bighorn Mountains, via Red Grade Road.

The Spear-O-Wigwam summer course schedule kicks off with “A Plein Air Celebration of Wildflowers” in the Bighorn National Forest, instructed by Linda Hartman and Mike Beeman. The course will run June 22-28.

More than a dozen courses will be offered this summer. The summer course schedule will conclude with a backpacking trip from Aug. 22-24, led by Dave Malutich.
