Sheridan College volleyball team inks SHS standout Farr
Sheridan High School senior Madison Farr signed on Friday her national letter of intent to join the Sheridan College volleyball team this fall.
Farr made her official pledge at SHS on Friday morning, with her parents, high school coaches and Sheridan College head coach Jennifer Weitzel in attendance.
“I think that she has a lot of potential, not only with her height, but also that she has grown up around volleyball,” Weitzel said. “Her mom played volleyball and basketball at Sheridan College. Her volleyball IQ is really high. She has passion and heart for the sport. I think she is going to bring a lot of energy to the team.”
Farr, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter, is a Sheridan College legacy, following in the footsteps of her mother Jennifer, a multisport standout for the Generals. Farr joins Weitzel’s Generals with an illustrious resume of her own.
“(Farr) was a great player in high school,” SHS head volleyball coach Wendi Ruby said. “She’s a hard worker. She loves volleyball and she wants to excel. She’s always wanted to move to the next level and she’s done it.”
Farr is expected to compete for early playing time, aiming to fill the void of former SC outside hitter Carley Gerving, who will further her athletic and academic career at South Dakota State this fall.
“(Farr) will help fit into that role and I also see her bringing a positive work ethic to the team as well,” Weitzel said. “It seems like she is pretty driven in all aspects of her life.”
Ruby added: “(Farr) is a great student—very, very smart and wants to make everyone happy. She’s a perfectionist. She wants to do everything right and be the best at what she’s doing.”
