NWCCD receives American Association of Community Colleges grant

The Northern Wyoming Community College District received word this week that they are the recipients of a Plus 50 Encore Completion Program Grant from the American Association of Community Colleges. The grant provides $15,000 over the course of three years and will be used to develop new programming and promote the training and retraining of citizens in the Sheridan area that are over the age of 50, in primarily healthcare related fields.

State Senator Bruce Burns attended a Sheridan College Nursing class

State Senator Bruce Burns attended a Sheridan College Nursing class on Monday, December 10, 2012. The students discussed relevant healthcare topics with Senator Burns. Some of the students will attend “Legislative Days” in Cheyenne in January. The event, sponsored by the Wyoming Nurses Association, allows students to view our legislative process firsthand and see our state legislators in action. Senator Burns entertained questions about the proposed changes in healthcare and how these may impact Wyoming.

Sheridan College wind and jazz bands to perform

The Sheridan College Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, directed by Dr. Michael P. Flynn, will perform their second concert of the semester on Sunday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Big Horn High School auditorium. Dr. Flynn will be discussing the works to be performed at 6:00 p.m.

SC Veterans Club host Toy Drive and Speaker Cynthia Cloud

Sheridan, WY – The Sheridan College Veterans Club will host a U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots drive at the C-TEL Auditorium Friday, December 7 at 8 p.m. Wyoming State Auditor, Cynthia Cloud, will speak at the event along with retired Marine, Master Sergeant, Jim Craig.
To participate in the toy drive bring a new, unwrapped toy to the auditorium in the Whitney Building on Sheridan College. Toys collected during the drive will be donated to children in Wyoming this holiday season.

Sheridan College hosts Winter Scenes Art Show

Sheridan, WY – Sheridan College will open a new art show entitled, Winter Scenes, at the Martinsen Gallery in the Whitney Building of Sheridan College on Monday, December 3rd. A reception will be held Tuesday, December 4th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Martinsen Gallery for the show. The reception is free and open to the puclic and refreshments will be served.

Veterans Plaza dedication ceremony held at Sheridan College Monday after Veterans Day

On Monday, November 12, the official holiday following Veterans Day, Sheridan College will dedicate their new Veterans Plaza. The Veterans Plaza is located at the new entrance to Sheridan College. Events will begin at 10:45 a.m. with the first time flag raising over the Plaza at 11:00 a.m.

SC Massage Therapy Students to offer massages

To celebrate National Massage Therapy Awareness Week, a national program sponsored by the American Massage Therapy Association the Sheridan College Massage Therapy Club will offer free 15-minute chair massages throughout the week.

Chair massages will be available Monday, Oct. 22 through Friday, Oct. 26. Students will be in front of the Sheridan College C-TEL Auditorium from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and 5:30p.m.-6:30 p.m. Massages will be available to the public, as well.
