Big West Arts Festival at Sheridan College Aug. 6th and 7th

It’s bound to be another great event at Sheridan College as the sixth annual Big West Arts Festival sets to turn campus into an art and music lover’s paradise on August 6 and 7. The event is free and open to the public.

The event begins at 10 a.m. each day and includes free music, culinary delights and the works of nearly 50 artists from all over the nation who will display their work for viewing and for sale. The Sheridan Trolley will also be making an extra stop at Sheridan College from 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6th.

On Saturday the fifth annual Welding Sculpture Rodeo returns and includes a silent auction for purchasing the sculptures.  The Children’s Creativity Station will have literature based activities for youth, where artistic projects are inspired by children’s stories.

“The festival was created for the community and we are proud that we have been able to keep the event free,” said festival director Rod Dugal.  “We continue to attract a very talented pool of artists and musicians and we look forward to seeing everyone enjoy the weekend.”

This year’s musical line-up includes many local musicians, including Doug Andrews, Gary Small & the Coyote Bros., Teka Brock Band, The Powder River Boys, and The Craft Brothers.  Saturday night features performances by the J Shogren & the Shanghai’d, followed by the return of Greenhorse.  “We are very excited for the music line up on both Saturday and Sunday.” said Dugal.
