Sheridan College/Community jazz and symphonic bands to perform Winter Concert

“The Sheridan College/Community jazz and symphonic bands will perform their Winter Concert on Sunday, December 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sue Henry Auditorium at Sheridan High School. The jazz ensemble will begin the concert with selections which will include Mark Taylor’s arrangement featuring tenor saxophonist Garth Moline on Jerome Kern’s ‘Yesterdays.’ Other jazz selections include Gordon Goodman’s arrangement of Russ Freemans’ fusion piece ‘Morocco,’ Lennie Niehaus original ‘Beantown Blues,’ Greg Yasinitsky’s arrangement of ‘I’ll be Home for Christmas’ and Alan Baylock’s arrangement of ‘Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas.’

Following a brief intermission, the symphonic band will perform a variety of pieces including Richard Bowles arrangement of F. J. Haydn’s overture for his opera ‘Armida’ and Gustav Holst’s historical ‘First Suite’ for wind band. Other selections will include Mark Williams’ ‘A Winter’s Carol’ (based on the Latin Carol ‘O Come, O Come, Emmanuel’) and Calvin Custer’s Fantasy on “Do You Hear What I Hear.”

There is no admission charge for the concert and the public is invited to attend.
