If you think you’re going to need financial aid money to attend an NWCCD college, but you don’t know how to go about getting aid, then you’ve come to the right place!

Our Federal School Code (for the FAFSA) is 003930.

Step One- Apply for a Federal Student Aid Pin at www.pin.ed.gov

This Pin is how you will electronically sign your FAFSA. Parents of dependent students will also need a pin.

Step Two- Submit the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov by the priority deadline of March 1st every year

The FAFSA is the application which colleges uses to determine eligibility for federal aid such as student loans, federal grants, and work-study.

Step Three-Watch your email for correspondence from the Financial Aid Office.

All FAFSA reports are downloaded weekly for students. It may take up to two weeks for the FAO to receive a student’s FAFSA. The FAO will contact each student via email with instructions on what to do next.

Step Four- Complete Verification if selected.

If your application is selected for a process called verification, you will be notified through email to your student email account on WebAdvisor. In this process, we will be comparing information from your FAFSA application with information used to complete the FAFSA application. During the process of verification, new or additional information may be required in order to clarify any inconsistencies. It is important to submit any requested documentation immediately. Students can see what forms are requested by logging into their WebAdvisor account and clicking on “My Documents”. Your financial aid cannot be disbursed until you have submitted all requested documents and the information has been reviewed and awarded.

Step Five- Apply for Federal Direct Student Loans (if needed)

It is important to remember that Sheridan and Gillette College does not automatically “package” student loans. Visit the Student Loans webpage for more information.

Step Six- Read the Financial Aid Policies and Procedures

Step Seven: Review and Sign your Financial Aid Award Letter and Authorization/Certification form.

The student will be notified via email when their award letter is available online. The student can view their awards and then respond by printing, signing and submitting the award letter – i.e. they can accept or decline the awards offered, or reduce/increase the amounts of loans originally requested.
