GC Industrial ElectricityIndustrial Electricity

Industrial electricians plan, install, test, inspect, troubleshoot, and service all types of electrical equipment vital to the operation of commercial businesses and industry including motors, generators, pumps, lighting systems, and associated electrical and electronic controls.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor projects employment of electricians to grow at a rate greater than the average for all occupations through 2012. As the population and economy grow, more industrial electricians will be needed to install and maintain electrical devices and wiring. New technologies also are expected to continue to stimulate the demand for these workers. The oil, mining, and power industries in Campbell County are among the employers looking to hire trained industrial electricians.

To help meet that demand, the Gillette College now offers an Industrial Electricity program. Classes ranging from basic electricity to learning the fundamentals of AC/DC motors and troubleshooting procedures will prepare students to enter an exciting job market. The Industrial Electricity program includes highly specialized courses where students work first-hand on equipment that today’s workers use every day in industry.

The program includes on-the-job training where students will have an opportunity to not only work in a non-classroom setting but also make valuable contacts with our industrial partners. We’re going directly to the source to provide the best education possible for our students.

GC General ScienceGeneral Science

Astronomy, chemistry, biology, geology – there’s what seems to be hundreds of areas of scientific study that college students can pursue as a major.

Right now you’re in no rush to choose which specific avenue you find most appealing. With the right education you could become the next great scientist, and all great scientists have to start somewhere.

Gillette College’s General Science studies is perfect for the future scientist who hasn’t yet pinned down their favorite area in the field. Many science curricula require one or two courses in several science disciplines so the student can be declared a science major. The overall objective of the General Science program of study is to provide students with the basic knowledge and laboratory skills they will need in upper-level specialty courses.

The undecided student has the opportunity to obtain a degree and still fulfill some course requirements outside a particular specialty discipline. Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to transfer to a University as a Junior.

GC Social ScienceSocial Science

A major in Social Science offers a broad based degree that can lead to a variety of careers in government, business or international relations.

The Social Science program at Gillette College is designed to provide the student with core knowledge in such areas as Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science and Geography.

Students will explore such areas as the scientific method ranging from comprehending reality at the abstract theoretical level, to concrete data collecting.

All classes at Gillette College are relatively small, which allows the students considerable interaction with the instructor and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

Students have the option of pursuing an Associate of Science or Arts degree in Social Science. The degree programs are designed to prepare students to transfer to a four-year institution or to enter the workforce.

Gillette College also offers a Psychology major at the Associate degree level. Psychology overlaps with other sciences that investigate behavior and mental processes. Certain parts of the field share much with the biological sciences.

Much like the Social Science degree, the Psychology degree is designed to act as a transfer degree for students who wish to move on and pursue a Bachelor’s degree.
