WYOMING VETERAN BENEFITS

WY National Guard Education Assistance Plan

  • Provides 100% tuition and mandatory fees. ¬†Does not include course, lab or internet fees.
    Agree to 6 year term or completed 6 years.
    Agree to 2 years after last using tuition assistance.
    Can only be used for one degree program.
    Maintain 2.0 cumulative GPA.

WY Overseas Combat Veterans & Survivors (W.S. 19-14-106)

  • Provides 10 semesters of free tuition and all fees.
    No time limit to use.
    WY resident for 1 year before enlisting.
    Honorable discharge.
    Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal or overseas campaign medal.
    Maintain 2.0 cumulative GPA after spring semester of 3rd or 4th semester.

WY Vietnam Veterans & Survivors (W.S. 19-14-106)

  • Provides 10 semesters of free tuition and all fees.
    No time limit to use.
    WY resident for 1 year.
    Served between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975.
    Received Vietnam Service Medal.
    Any discharge except dishonorable.
    Not receiving VA educational benefits.

Marna M. Kuehne Disabled Veteran Scholarship

  • For honorably discharged,¬†disabled veterans attending Sheridan or Gillette Colleges.
    Proof of disability from VA.
    Preference given to WY residents from Sheridan, Johnson, Campbell, Crook and Weston Counties.
    Apply online via Financial Aid Scholarship Application.

Wyoming National Guard Association Scholarship

  • Be an officer or enlisted member of the WY NGA.
    Awards are generally $500.
    Application generally due by 1 April.

Military Order of the Purple Heart Scholarship

  • Up to $3,000 in an academic year for a full time (no part time) US citizen student.¬† May not receive the award more than 3 times.
    Member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart OR
    Spouse or widow of a MOPH member or a service member KIA or died of wounds OR
    Direct descendant (child, step-child, adopted child, grandchild) of MOPH member or service member KIA or died of wounds.
    2.75 unweighted cumulative GPA from high school or college if already attending college.
