ADMISSIONS PROCESS FOR VETS

The Veteran Services Officer can help you complete each step.

Incoming student veterans should follow the Student Veteran Checklist to assist them.

Step 1  Determine your residency status Рthis affects your tuition.  

Step 2  Apply for admission online or by visiting the Admissions Office.

Step 3  Turn in official transcripts from high school (or HSEC/GED) and all colleges attended along with your military transcript.  Military transcript links at Resources.

Step 4  Take the Compass placement tests for math and English.  The tests are about 1 hour each and cost $5 each.

STEPS 1-4 MUST BE COMPLETED TO BE ADMITTED.
NO REGISTRATION WITHOUT BEING ADMITTED.

Step 5   Create your MyNWCCD account.  Use the username and password from your Admissions acceptance email.  Now you can access just about anything that affects you at the college:  financial aid, registration, email, learning management system, and general information.

Step 6 Register for classes with an advisor and build your student education plan.  First time students MUST register in person at the Records Office. For following semesters you can register in person or go online.

                        PRIORITY REGISTRATION FOR MILITARY AND VETERANS!
Outlined below is the process for priority registration:
1. Veteran must meet in person with an advisor and complete any necessary placement exams.
2. Advisor and veteran review educational plan and complete a paper registration.
3. Veteran delivers registration form to the Records Office.
4. Records Office will process the vet registrations the afternoon prior to registration opening for other students.

CONGRATULATIONS! You’re a college student!!¬†¬†But you still have a few things left to do.

Step 7  Now all you have to do is request VA certification, apply for financial aid, apply for housing, get your books, pay your bills, complete orientation, and go to class!
