Scholarships

General SC Scholarship
  - All students are encouraged to apply for scholarships. Sheridan College & Gillette College provide scholarships for all students in the following categories:
- Program of study
- Financial Need
- H.S. graduates from Sheridan, Johnson & Campbell counties
- H.S. graduates within service area
- H.S. graduates from NE Wyoming
- Current H.S. graduates with composite ACT scores of 25 or higher
- Wyoming students who have done extensive community service

One application can make you eligible to receive one or more of these scholarships. Scholarship deadline is March 1st.

Hathaway Scholarship - The state of Wyoming has established a generous scholarship program in the name of former Wyoming Governor Stan Hathaway that rewards eligible Wyoming students with scholarship money to attend college in Wyoming. The program provides merit- and need-based awards to eligible students.

Grants
 
Federal PELL Grant:
Federal Pell Grants are entitlements. The Pell Grant is gift aid and does not have to be repaid unless you are subject to pro-rata due to withdrawing from all your classes. The Pell Award is variable & is determined by the FAFSA.

Pell Grants are available to students who:

  • Are accepted for admission or enrolled in good standing as at least half-time undergraduate students at an institution of higher education;
    Have established financial need by filing an Application for Federal Student Aid or comparable financial aid form;
  • Have on file in the Financial Aid Office, a high school transcript, GED certificate, or a letter from the GED coordinator, and have declared a degree or certificate educational objective;

  • Have provided a financial aid transcript if transferring from another college;

  • Are U.S. citizens or in the United States for other than temporary purposes and intend to become permanent residents.

Federal SEOG Grant:
Qualification for the Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant is based on guidelines developed by the U.S. Department of Education for the Title IV Federal Aid Programs.

Federal SEOG Grants are provided to students with financial need:

  • Students applying for Pell Grants will automatically be considered for an SEOG if they meet the requirements.

  • No special application is necessary.

  • SEOG's are awarded on a firstcome basis to students whose EFC (Effective Family Contribution) is less than $500 and who demonstrate the greatest financial need after all financial aid is accounted for.

State LEAP Grant:
Leveraging Education Assitance Partnership Program Grants are provided to Wyoming resident students who demonstrate exceptional financial need.

  • LEAP Grants are available for both full-time and part-time students.

  • No special application is required.
