Getting a college education can be expensive. Even though
Sheridan College has one of the lowest tuition rates in the region, we know that many students will need further financial assistance to make their educational dreams come true. Generally, both full- and part-time students should apply for financial aid. Although, many awards are based on financial need or on academic achievement, there are numerous other scholarships and grants available that have various criteria for eligibility.
A student must meet the following requirements to be eligible for financial aid.
- Be Accepted to Sheridan/Gillette College
- Must be in an approved degree of certificate program at Sheridan/Gillette College
- Have a HS diploma or GED
- Be a US citizen or an eligible non-citizen
- Student must not be in default on a federal loan or owe a refund on a federal grant
- Males, between the ages of 18-26, must be registered with Selective Service
- Be in good academic standing
Easy Steps for New & Returning Students
To be considered for student financial aid at Sheridan/Gillette College, you must complete the FAFSA on-line. The FAFSA tells us if you are eligible for any of the following:
-Pell Grant
-Academic Competitigveness Grant
-Work-Study
- Federal Direct Loans
-Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
-Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant
Each year Sheridan and Gillette Colleges award millions of dollars in grants, scholarships and loans. Many of our students actually get money back. The application deadline is March 1st every year.
The Work Study Program provides jobs for undergraduate students to assist with paying for educational expenses. Awards are based on financial need. Work-study is a great way to pay for college. The FWS Program provides part-time employment while you are enrolled in school. Money earned can be used to help pay for tuition, fees, room, board, and books.
The state of Wyoming has established a generous scholarship program in the name of former Wyoming Governor Stan Hathaway that rewards eligible Wyoming High School graduates with scholarship money to attend any of the seven community colleges and/or The University of Wyoming. The program provides merit- and need-based awards to eligible students. Wyoming high school graduates have two years from the date of high school graduation to apply for this scholarship.
Available to Wyoming residents who have been accepted into our Nursing Program and plan to practice as a nurse in Wyoming after graduation. This loan may be repaid if you agree to work full-time as a nurse within the state of Wyoming. Check with the Wyoming Community College Commission for complete details. Completing the FAFSA is required.

| Federal Parent PLUS Loan |
This is a non-need based source of loan funds available to parents of dependent students who are enrolled for 6 or more credits per semester. In this program, the parent is the borrower, a credit check is performed on the applicant, and repayment of interest and principal must begin within 60 days of disbursement of the loan |
