Online Class Offerings

The college offers classes through an online format. Students have greater flexibility, access, and control of learning and study times. Instructors will communicate via e-mail and in the Black Board classroom. Online learning classes require students to work independently without face-to-face instruction. Successful online learners should be comfortable with basic computer skills (use of email, web searchers and word processing), self motivated and actively participate in the learning process. Textbooks and other course material will be available through the bookstore on each campus. To access online classes: follow the Black Board link on the homepage and use your e-Services user name and password. For more detailed information regarding the dates and times of these sections please see the course schedule.

Interactive Video Conference Class Offerings

The college offers classes through an interactive video conferencing format. These classes allow students to take a class that is taught by an instructor on either the Sheridan or Gillette campus while simultaneously connecting with students on the opposite campus via a video conferencing link. This video and audio hookup allows students at both sites to fully participate in the class. Video conferencing classes are essentially held like any regular classroom class except that in this instance the instructor is not physically present on one of the campus but rather is there through an interactive video link. For some class sessions the instructor may travel to the other campus to originate the class from that location. Text books and any other course materials for these class will be available through the bookstore on each campus.

Online classes:  These courses are taught completely online with no “on campus” activities required.  Online classes may require students to maintain a set pace through course activities, including web-based quizzes and testing. Classes may also require participation in online learning communities, including timely readings and postings to discussion lists.

Online Hybrid classes:  These online classes do require some “on campus” activities such as labs, demonstrations or exams. Students will be informed which class will require on campus activities.

Web Enhanced classes:   On campus classes that utilize online tools to deliver content, assessment and communications.

Video Conferencing classes:  Classes that are taught “on campus” through an interactive video system.  These classes allow students to take a class that is taught by an instructor on either the Gillette or Sheridan campuses while simultaneously connecting with students on the opposite campus.
