Drafting

The creation of buildings, airplanes, industrial machines and even furniture all begins in the capable hands of a drafter. Drafters create intricate, detailed technical drawings using information given to them by engineers, scientists or land surveyors to show the dimensions of an object, the materials it will be built with and how it will be built. Once each series of drawings is complete, they are used by production and construction workers to bring the drawing to life.
At Sheridan College students work on the latest computer drafting programs and with our very experienced instructors to hone their drafting skills and prepare themselves for a position in today’s drafting market.
At Sheridan College, students can earn a Certificate of Completion or an Associate of Applied Science Degree in drafting. The course of study allows students to gain the necessary job skills for entry-level positions in mine drafting, architectural drafting, drafting in surveying or civil engineering offices and structural drafting. Emphasis is placed on drafting of civil projects and computer aided drafting.
