FAQs
Q. I'm in a transfer A.A. or A.S. degree. Will I qualify for assistance?
A. Only Career and Technical Education majors (A.A.S., Dental Hygiene, and some certificate programs) qualify for the Transitional Programs. Refer to the list of majors.
Q. What if I am in "General Education" or "Undecided" for a major-Will I qualify?
A. Those are not Career and Technical Education majors, so you would not qualify. If, however, you determine later that you want to be in a Career and Technical Education major, do contact me.
Q. How will I know which program I might qualify for?
A. There are eight different programs currently under the Transitional Services umbrella; however, all are Career and Technical Education Programs. So, first look at your major to see if it is a qualifying A.A.S. degree or certificate program. If it is, then contact me: For more Information, please contact us at (307) 674-6446, ext. 2701; Griffith Memorial Building, Room 110; or email.
Remember that close to 1000 students have been helped by the Transitional Programs since they started in 1986, and that number is growing every year You could be one of them!
Q. Is there a minimum amount of credits I need to take per semester to retain my eligibility?
A. All students must take a minimum of 6 credits per semester to maintain eligibility (3 in the summer if they choose to attend summer school), and all students must be seeking degrees or certificates.
Q. How much financial assistance can I receive from the Transitional Programs?
A. That depends on which program you are in, what your needs are, and what funding I have available.
Q. I am on financial aid suspension, can I still receive assistance from the Transitional Programs?
A. If you are on financial aid suspension, you are also on financial aid suspension from the Transitional Programs. If you are on financial aid probation, however, you may still receive funding if your semester and cumulative grade point averages are a C or above. For those who do have grade point averages below a C, eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis.
Q. What kinds of support services do you offer in addition to financial assistance?
A. The Transitional Programs offer a wide variety of support services to help students overcome educational barriers and be successful in college and the workplace such as
- Orientation to Sheridan College and the Transitional Programs
- Help with admission, registration, and application for financial aid
- Educational Advising, Mentoring, and Coaching
