The Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College will host a number of activities to kick off the holiday season.
Events begin with an open house, to which all are welcome. The Center will be open to the public from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with guided tours and student demonstrations throughout the Center. The open house is FREE, and light refreshments will be served.
Following the open house, there will be an art installation reception in the E.A. Whitney Academic Center atrium. The celebration will focus on the installation of the two bronze Komaine (Japanese for Lion-dog) statues that have been located at the main entrance of Kendrick Park in Sheridan since 1919. The statues will once again be on public display inside the E.A. Whitney Academic Center. The art installation event will run from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and is FREE and open to the public.
Finally, at 7:30 p.m., the Whitney Center will host “Christmas Swing!” The program features a fantastic arrangement of songs from the holiday favorite “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” arranged and edited by Dr. Christian Erickson, Coordinator of Music and Music Technology at Sheridan College, as well as other holiday classics. Tickets for “Christmas Swing!” are on sale now at the WYO Theater box office. The cost is $15 for the public, $10 for veterans and seniors, and $5 for students.
