On the court, the Sheridan College women’s basketball team finished the 2014-15 season with a 25-7 record and ranked as high as No. 18 in the NJCAA top 25 polls. The student-athletes excelled in the classroom too, combing for a team 3.57 grade-point average.

The high mark qualifies the team for the NJCAA All-Academic team award, as well as the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Team Honor Roll, presented by AT&T.

“Long road trips, practice and game schedules, extra skill workouts, and weight training meant the individuals on the team had to be disciplined enough to prioritize their time effectively to get their school work done and it has shown this year,” said head coach Frank McCarthy.

Five individuals earned Academic All-American recognition, including Tiana Hanson and Erika Erickson, both of Shepherd, Montana, Shae Bruursema of Reed Point, Montana, Sierra Toms of Gillette, and Katie Kuhn of Laramie.

The Academic All-Region IX team includes Hanson, Bruursema, Tamara Brine of Adelaide, Australia, Sam Moodie of Melbourne, Australia, Zuzana Talackova of Horice, Czech Republic, Sarah Rawlings of Parkman, Shayna Kretchman of Arvada and Shayne Carter of Cheyenne.
