The Rope for Knowledge Scholarship Roping began in 2009 as a fundraiser to increase the Johnson County Scholarship and help Johnson County residents attend college at any of the three NWCCD campuses. The event is a fun recreational day for the entire family and includes Team Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing and Pee Wee Barrel Racing.
Contestants pay an entry fee of which 50% is paid back to the event winners along with numerous prizes donated by community sponsors. The other 50% of the proceeds go directly to the Johnson County Scholarship. To date over $5300 has been placed in the scholarship.
The 3rd Annual Rope for Knowledge Scholarship Roping has been scheduled for August 20th, 2011 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.
