Personal Trainer Education
Personal Trainers lead and instruct strength training, cardiovascular exercise, stretching and more, working with people of all ages and fitness levels. Personal training is quickly evolving into a recognized and respected part of the health and fitness industry. Critical to the continued growth and development of the profession are the high standards of professional skills and practice. NWCCD’s Personal Trainer Certificate program focuses on the development of professional skills and quality of practice to help you become a certificate Personal Trainer. From working with athletes and in one-on-one settings to leading group exercises, Personal Trainers are highly skilled and knowledgeable to help clients reach their health and fitness goals. The Personal Training field is growing across the nation. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts 33,500 new jobs will be added to the industry of Personal Training, 13% job growth from 2012-2022.

Students who successfully pass a nationally accredited Personal Training program can work as certified Personal Trainers in Sheridan College’s Fitness Center.
Our NWCCD Personal Trainer Certificate program teaches you the fundamental skills and knowledge of personal training, health, fitness, exercise, the human body, and more. Throughout the course of study, you will learn to apply your knowledge and skills in a variety of real-world settings including clinics, fitness centers, and hospitals. As a Personal Trainer student at Sheridan College, our award-winning, expert faculty will guide you through the year long program with courses like Foundations of Exercise Science, Methods of Training and Conditioning, Sports and Exercise Psychology, and more.
NWCCD students who complete this certificate program will be eligible to sit for national exams offered by certifying agencies such as National Council on Strength and Fitness, American Council on Exercise, American College of Sports Medicine, and National Strength and Conditioning Association. This is an ideal option if you are interested in working as a Personal Trainer with clients in a one-on-one setting.
