The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statics predicts that by 2022 over 188,000 jobs will be added to the field of kindergarten and elementary school teachers, an increase of 12%.

Our NWCCD Associate of Science degree program in Elementary Education is based on current research in best practices to ensure the very highest quality instruction in teacher education. Earning a degree from NWCCD, you will have the choice to transfer to many of our partnering colleges or universities across the country. In addition, with on-site extension education degree programs, you will have the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree on campus through Chadron State College of Nebraska.
Students in NWCCD’s Elementary Education program are well-prepared to meet the challenges and demands of teacher certification by being immediately immersed in the field of education through joint partnerships with local and area schools and childcare centers. Your course schedule in the Elementary Education program may include Math for Elementary School Teachers, Education Tech Theory, Educational Psychology, Literature for Children and more, as well as a Practicum in Teaching and wide-ranging elective courses.

Our NWCCD Elementary Education faculty members have many years of teaching experience in public schools as well as at the college level. They do an excellent job preparing our preservice teachers for the rigors of the education field and teaching. Our award-winning faculty members maintain the highest standards and work closely with students to ensure their success. They will teach you each aspect of education theory, practice and application.
NWCCD also has strong relationships with local school districts, including the Campbell County School District in Gillette and the Sheridan County School Districts, to provide our students hands-on learning opportunities. NWCCD partners with Chadron State College of Nebraska, to help students earn Bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education without leaving campus.
